“Chris Rock didn’t press charges”- Jake Paul condemns Colby Covington for pressing charges on Jorge Masvidal following restaurant fight
Jake Paul- Colby Covington- Will Smith & Chris Rock
Youtuber-cum-boxer Jake Paul doesn’t back away from igniting a war of words against an equally enthusiastic trash-talker like him, case in point, Colby Covington. After his 5-0 stint in boxing which includes wins over former MMA champions Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley, Paul has been more invested as a boxing promoter through his firm, Most Valuable Promotions. Besides that, Paul also hints at competing in MMA sometime in near future by putting out training videos and throwing shade at the UFC now and then for fighters’ pay.
Covington, who’s in the UFC, is the #1 ranked welterweight in the world right after the current champion Kamaru Usman and was last seen winning a dominant unanimous decision fight against his former best friend turned bitter rival Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. With that, Covington settled a business with Masvidal that unfortunately wasn’t resolved by Masvidal’s side because the latter wanted Covington to pay for his trash-talking and hence decided to ambush him outside a restaurant in Miami, Florida.
Jake Paul hails a hilarious logo against Colby Covington’s actions of pressing charges
Relating to Covington’s aforementioned incident with Masvidal outside of the competition, Paul took to Twitter to tweet “Chris Rock didn’t press charges but Colby Covington did lol. Just shows how much of a pu**y Colby is. Make Fighters Not Soft Again.”
Basically, Paul is reacting to whatever took place at the Academy Awards of 2022 between actors Will Smith and Chris Rock. Smith rocked Rock hard with a slap on the face live in front of the camera and audience for sorta punishing Rock for making a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Smith.
What did you make of the Academy Awards 2022’s incident? Also, what do you make of Paul taunting Covington to acting opposite to what Rock did in his situation? Do you think that pressing charges is a weak move, or physical harm of any form outside the competition should be condemned in a proper legal way no matter whether you yourself are a fighter or not? What do you think is next for Paul and Covington in their respective combat sports careers?
