The undefeated Ciryl Gane opens as favorite against Derrick Lewis for the upcoming UFC interim heavyweight title fight
Ciryl Gane
The undefeated, French, heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane and the number 2 ranked heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis are meeting each other for the UFC interim heavyweight title bout. As the betting odds open, they favour the Frenchman.
According to Betonline.ag, the undefeated heavyweight Ciryl Gane opens as a favorite to capture the newly introduced interim heavyweight belt over the “Black Beast” Derrick Lewis. Gane vs Lewis is booked to headline UFC 265 on August 7th. Initially, Lewis was supposed to fight the champion Francis Ngannou for the heavyweight title but this matchup comes off as shocking.
Derrick is on a 4 fight winning streak. He is coming off a highlight reel knockout win against Curtis Blaydes at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Lewis. He has already faced the current champion in 2018 where he defeated him via decision at UFC 226. As far as Gane is concerned, he is coming off a spectacular win against Alexander Volkov last weekend. Gane is yet to be stopped by an opponent inside the UFC octagon. He is 9-0-0 in his career.
Ciryl Gane opens as a -325 favourite against Derrick Lewis
According to the betting website, Gane is listed as a -325 favorite over Lewis. The Black Beast on the other hand opens as a +275 underdog. To put this in layman’s terms, “Bon Gamin” has a probability of 76 percent to win the fight against Lewis, who has a chance of 26 percent. If one were to bet $100 on Gane, they would profit with $31 while if they bet on Lewis, their net profit would be $275.
This fixture has created quite the controversy, given Francis has just returned to the USA to resume his training. He has been in a mix up with the superstar Jon Jones but that fight did not progress. The UFC believes that Lewis and Gane deserve a title shot right now. Do you think this matchup is fair?
