Watch: Colby Covington pays the price for being the bad guy

Colby Covington
Colby Covington is probably the most hated figure in modern-day mixed martial arts. The former interim welterweight champion was a promising prospect, but his style of fighting was way too boring for the UFC’s management, they told his manager that they are planning on letting him go. Colby was informed about this before his fight against Demian Maia, and he dropped down one of the most iconic post-fight interviews in the history of the company.
He fought Maia in his home nation of Brazil, and after leaving him in his pool of blood, he called the entire nation of Brazil filthy animals. This video immediately went viral, and it revived Colby’s career. UFC happily renewed his contract, and Colby carried on with his heel persona. He called out everyone on the UFC’s roster, and his former best friend, Jorge Masvidal started maintaining his distance from Colby.
It was revealed that Colby denied paying Jorge’s longtime striking coach, and this started the iconic rivalry between these two. They used to train at American Top Team, but things got so bad between them, that the owner, Dan Lambert had to throw both of them out of the gym. Jorge later rejoined the gym, and Colby joined MMA Masters which improved his game significantly.
Colby Covington wasn’t allowed to train at UFC PI before his fight against Jorge Masvidal

After Colby left ATT, everyone from the gym started speaking out against him. Dustin Poirier was supposed to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title unification bout, and Colby picked Khabib to dominate Dustin, by the time this happened they were still teammates, and this pissed off Poirier. He claimed the beef between them is on-sight, and Covington is still taking shots at Dustin and his family.
Truth be told, nobody in the UFC likes Covington and he is pretty much okay with that, he is here to earn money, and he is doing pretty good financially. A video has surfaced from Covington’s training camp for Masvidal, and it showed Covington training at the Apex. He revealed he wasn’t allowed to train at UFC PI, to avoid any conflict.
The video shows fighters gathering around, Amanda and Nina Nunes, and Covington is out there alone doing shadow boxing, and stuff. Is this the price to pay for being the ‘bad guy?’
