Conor McGregor officially puts forth a bid of £1.5 billion to purchase Chelsea
Conor McGregor
Former UFC champion Conor McGregor whose last fight ended in a loss to Dustin Poirier has since taken a break from fights to allow time for his broken leg to heal. He now plans on putting on some weight and competing at a higher weight class in the UFC.
He’s been talked about in the football world after he recently sent out a series of tweets where he showed interest in buying the football club, Chelsea. McGregor had recently tweeted a screenshot where he was discussing the purchase of the English team Chelsea, which was up for sale at £3bn. Chelsea was put up for sale after its Russian owner Roman Abramovich came under fire for his close ties with Putin. Then he put forward the following offer for the team on Twitter.

Conor has previously shown interest in buying the English Club Manchester United. The bid he put in for the club is surprising as it’s only half of the price set for the team, moreover, Conor reportedly has a net worth of £136 million, which is far from the £3 billion price tag put on the team by its Russian owner Roman Abramovich.
Fans who have been awaiting Conors’ return to the UFC at a bigger weight class after his loss to Dustin Poirier, were taken aback by the sudden series of tweets. Though the ‘Notorious One’ is known to be a brilliant businessman, this truly came out of the left field. While he received support from his fans most were quite baffled by the move and why the former champ wants to buy a football team is greatly debated. It’s generally agreed that it is highly unlikely that Conor will end up being the owner of Chelsea due to his low offer.
