“Conor is the guy!” Dana White gave the ‘You’re not HIM’ reality check to entire UFC roster

Dana White asks fighters to be more efficient in selling PPV in order to earn more money in the UFC. Fighters pay has always been a topic of heated debate in UFC with many critics accusing the promotion for paying their fighters enough. On the other hand, many fighters are now inclining towards a fight which will earn them big money rather than legacy. 

While talking about it, White in an interview mentioned that he hates the term money fights as everybody is asking for it. White mentioned that not all fighters are Conor McGregor and they don’t have the same impact on PPV sales. According to White, if the fighters can’t be like the Irishman in terms of PPV sales then they just have to keep quiet and wait for their moment.

He said: “Everybody listen. I’m getting tired of the term money fights. I want the money fight, i want the money fight. What you all gonna move down and fight Conor. There’s no bones about it. Conor is the guy. Conor brings in, you know big gates, big pay-per-view numbers and everything else. Shut up if you don’t, if you are not him, shut up.”

“You’re not a money fight,” continued White. “You’re gonna make it if you are a good champion and your fight sells. If you’re not that big pay-per-view star, shut up.”  White suggested all the fighters sell their fights and become a good champion and it will ultimately help them earn more money.

Dana White comments on why Conor McGregor is so successful in the fight business

Conor McGregor and Dana White have an amazing friendship that makes a lot of sense. The main reason UFC attracted millions of new viewers from around the world is because of McGregor. 

Given that they have been doing business for a while, White constantly speaks well of McGregor. White once said in an interview the reasons McGregor is so successful. White emphasized that “The Notorious” is a true fighter in addition to being witty and skilled at trash talking.

“Conor McGregor is the perfect example. Why do you think he’s such a big star ? Because he’s funny, yeah that’s part of it. Because he speaks so well, absolutely part of it…the reason he’s a global superstar because he’s a real fighter,” said White. According to White, while other fighters are selective with their choice of opponent, McGregor has always been open to whoever the promotion has set him up with.
