“He looked damn good, that kid’s got a massive heart,” Nick Diaz’s performance at UFC 266 impressed Dana White
Nick Diaz and Robbie Lawler
The UFC veteran and one of the biggest names in the promotion, Nick Daiz’s comeback is spoiled by the former UFC Welterweight champion, Robbie Lawler at UFC 266. Diaz may not have won his highly anticipated comeback fight but he earned respect in the eyes of UFC president Dana White.
White wasn’t available for the UFC 266 post-fight press conference, talking about Nick Diaz’s performance on the post-fight press conference of Contender Series, Dana White says, “I thought Nick Diaz looked incredible considering he hasn’t fought in five years,”
“I don’t know what I was expecting. You never know what to get with the [Diaz] brothers, but let me tell you what — with a five-year layoff, I thought he looked unbelievable. And I don’t know if you guys saw Robbie after the fight, but Robbie had freaking knots and lumps all over him. Those two went to war.”
White added, “I thought Robbie was just going to go out there and buzz-saw through him — and that was not the case.”
Dana White is unsure what’s next for Nick Diaz
Nick Diaz made his return inside the Octagon after six years and the fans were really excited to see the real O.G. of the game fighting once again. Diaz landed a total of 150 strikes while Lawler landed 131 strikes. He was looking really good until ‘Ruthless’ dropped him on the canvas in the third round and the fight got waved off.
Now, the fans are excited to see Diaz fighting once again and see how the start of a new chapter to his MMA career will go. But the UFC president Dana White has no idea what is going to be next for Nick Daiz.
White added, “I don’t know, I honestly don’t know the answer to that question, but he looked damn good. That kid’s got a massive heart, he’s obviously super talented fighter, and yeah, I was impressed.”
