Gable Steveson
Gable Steveson is on the path to becoming a massive superstar as he signs with WWE but UFC’s Dana White wanted the Tokyo Olympic champion at the Contender Series according to reports.
Gable Steveson won the USA a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. After the historic win, Steveson was wanted by a lot of the combat sports organizations. WWE and UFC were in the lead to getting hold of the heavyweight. Dana also showed interest in signing the champ but WWE were just one step ahead. Gable has officially signed a multi-year deal with WWE.
Sources told ESPN’s Marc Raimondi that Dana wanted Steveson to compete in the Contender Series but wanted the Olympic hero to gain some MMA experience first. Luckily for WWE, their approach was very direct so they managed to sign Steveson.
“I have no clue,” Gable Steveson denies talking to Dana White for a UFC contract
While there were a lot of signs that were leading to Gable becoming a UFC star, Steveson after signing a contract with WWE confirmed that he was never in contact with the UFC. “We never talked about that, so I have no clue,” the Olympic champion said.
The Contender Series is in full fledge and we have seen somoe reat fighters recieving contracts. Gable would’ve been an amazing addition to the roster given his wrestling abilities and charisma. But there is still hope that one day Steveson might sign given there have been instances of signing a WWE fighter to the UFC.
