Khamzat Chimaev vs Kamaru Usman
Khamzat Chimaev is one of the hottest prospects in the UFC right now. The Swedish mixed martial artist turned quite some heads upon his arrival in the organization. He is on a four-fight win streak in the UFC, and to everyone’s surprise, he has only absorbed only 1 strike throughout these bouts.
He was calling out for a fight against the top-ranked opponents ever since his arrival, and now he’s finally getting a chance to prove himself against the number 2 ranked welterweight, Gilbert Burns. Khamzat is extremely confident in his abilities, and he believes he would run through Burns, and then he would beat Kamaru Usman to become the welterweight king.
Khamzat opened up as a big favorite in his fight against Burns, and Daniel Cormier believes he’s one of the best fighters we’ve seen in a while. Talking to MMA Fighting, he said, “I think he’s the scariest contender we have seen for a while. Look, the odds may seem high but when you look at these guys, you’ve got to ask yourself, ‘Do you believe (Khamzat) wins?’ Maybe he doesn’t dominate, but at the end of it, do you think he wins the fight against Gilbert Burns? When you’re asking yourself that and you say ‘I think so,’ it doesn’t matter if the odds are -100, if its even, it’s still just saying they believe he’s going to win.”

Daniel Cormier is highly excited about a title match between Khamzat and Usman, and the odds for this fight would be very interesting. “I can only imagine what the odds would look like if it was Chimaev-Usman,” said DC. “I would love to see the odds when Usman and Burns opened up, because I can’t imagine it was as high as this is. I think that speaks to the dominance that Chimaev has put on paper to this point. It’s big shoes. It’s a lot of hype to live up. The dude seems to have the goods.”
Khamzat has been on an absolute roll, but DC believes his true skills are yet to be tested, anyhow, he is a massive fan of Khamzat, and he wants him to become the champ. He said, “As the fights get tougher, we’ll see, but what he did to Li Jingliang was ridiculous. Then I go into the interview and I say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, Khamzat Chimaev,’ and he goes, ‘Brother, of course, you are (interviewing me)… what was the option? It was going to be me. It was never going to be Li.’ It was tremendous. He’s got the swagger, he’s got the fighting ability. I’m a fan. I’m a massive fan of Khamzat.”
