Paulo Costa- Derek Brunson
It’s not sure if Derek Brunson is ready to scrap with Paulo Costa inside the Octagon, but for sure he wants to have it all on Twitter, thanks to his meme getting strong over the course of the last couple of years. A UFC Middleweight, Brunson was recently called out by Costa, a former middleweight title challenger, for a fight after Costa was not successful in securing a fight against another middleweight in Sean Strickland. With the way he calls out, Costa is hardly able to secure a fight for himself in the 185-lbs division.
Brunson was on a 5-fight winning streak before losing to #3 ranked middleweight Jared Cannonier in his last fight at UFC 271. Costa last fought in October 2021 when he was highly dissed by the MMA community for not being able to make middleweight and hence shifting the new fight weight by an entire weight class, regardless, Costa lost that bout to another former title challenger in Marvin Vettori. Costa is now on a back and forth with the UFC, as the latter suggests Costa take fights at light-heavyweight for the future but he resists.

In a Twitter war earlier started by Costa by calling out Derek Brunson, and not only that, trolling him as well for not taking the fight, Brunson is finally firing back as well. Costa started by saying “I think Derek Brunson is avoiding this call someone give me his number” followed by claiming that Brunson is ‘shaking’ and is a ‘bitch.’
Brunson on the other hand told his reasons for not taking the fight lies in the fact that Costa is now being considered to fight at light-heavyweight which is why he is not interested in fighting the latter anymore. Plus, Brunson has also claimed that Costa is on PEDs i.e. performance-enhancing drugs.
Followed by all of this, Brunson uploaded a hilarious meme image on Twitter where Costa is sitting like a patient with a serious illness while Brunson and another notable figure are standing beside Costa. In the caption, Brunson wrote “Blonde Brunson and some unranked heavyweight [laughing emojis].”
