“None of the hype is gonna bother me” – Derek Brunson is determined to see off Darren Till

Derek Brunson will be looking forward to climbing further up the UFC’s middleweight ladder when he takes on Brit, Darren Till in the main event of UFC Vegas 36. The fight will see the victor move one step closer to the middleweight title shot. Brunson, who has been on a roll of late, is determined to go the distance.

In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, with only a few days left for his fight, Derek Brunson spoke about his opponent Darren Till who brings a lot of quality to the Octagon. Although Brunson acknowledged the Liverpudlian’s UFC record, win over Stephen Thompson and several other notable wins, he sounded determined to get the job done, come the 4th of September.

“He’s just a guy that has a lot of buzz around him” – Derek Brunson on Darren Till

Brunson was quoted as saying, “He put himself in a great spot. He’s from the U.K. with a big following, that helps also. He’s just a guy that has a lot of buzz around him. His personality, a solid fighter...There’s a lot of guys [like that]. I would say he earned it more than an [Sean] O’Malley or something like that. I think what 18-4, former title challenger, a win over Stephen Thompson, he had another quality win, too. He has some quality wins.” [via MMA Fighting]

He concluded, “None of the hype is gonna bother me. I know what I’ve got to do to get done. The funny thing about it is I’m not as crazy as an underdog as I was in my last three or four fights so that’s funny to me. I know what I’ve got to get done.

Brunson is currently on a three-fight win streak, with his last defeat coming way back in 2018. His recent dominant wins over Kevin Holland and Edmen Shahbazyan are a thing of beauty. Ranked number 5 in the middleweight division, Brunson will be well aware of the fact that a couple of more victories will take him to the apex.

Till, on the other hand, is coming off a loss against Robert Whittaker in July 2020. He hasn’t fought in over a year, and will be looking forward to getting back to winning ways.
