Adesanya was fighting from a comfortable distance at a comfortable pace, he stunned Adesanya with his long-range strikes, and Whittaker was having a hard time finding Adesanya at the end of his punches. He started mixing in takedowns, but Adesanya kept his calm and avoided any significant damage on the ground.
It was a pretty close fight, and many had in favor of Whittaker. These two had no ill feelings towards each other at the end of the fight, but Whittaker sure was left with a bad taste in his mouth.
Michael Chandler is surprised by Israel Adesanya’s performance against Robert Whittaker
Adesanya is as dominant as they come, he’s an excellent kickboxer, but many people accuse him of playing it too safe in his recent bouts. UFC lightweight, Michael Chandler called him out on the same in a recent tweet, he wrote, “Trust me, I love Izzy. But we have gotten to a point where a dominant champ just needs to stand there, throw a few shots per round and he will not lose unless he gets caught&he will always get the nod. Izzy got paid on this last contract…go FIGHT, don’t you dare spar.”
Adesanya is yet to react to this, and we are eagerly waiting for anyone else to jump on this.
