Carla Esparza vs Rose Namajunas at UFC 274
UFC 274 just took place inside the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, United States and it was stacked with fans. In the co-main event, women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas was challenged by veteran Carla Esparza.
The hype around the fight was massive and fans were excited to see the showdown. Given the past fights of Namajunas, fans were expecting a brutal contest with amazing fighting moments. But the reality was way different than it was expected. From the start, both Namajunas and Esparza tried to stick to their game plan and we’re building a strategy to beat each other.
Nobody was getting close and both were trying to fight from distance. As the rounds progressed, the same thing happened but very few blows were traded. Both the fighters were extremely cautious and defensive and were avoiding any mistakes.
Esparza did manage to get some takedowns on Namajunas but couldn’t do much on the ground. Most of the shots swung by both fighters were missed and it was getting extremely boring to watch. Fans who came to see fireworks during the fight were disappointed by the performances of both the fighters. In the end, Esparza was declared the winner of the fight via a split decision. But as a entertainment point of view, it was not engaging at all.

Tony Ferguson was knocked out unconscious by Michael Chandler before the Namajunas vs Esparza fight. A fan took his picture to mock the co-main event to be so boring that Ferguson decided to sleep.

Another fan explained that if UFC decides to make the trilogy fight then they better make it a preliminary card fight. It will save a lot of time for fans.
” If they’re crazy enough to allow a trilogy, I think we can all agree it belongs on the prelim card.”
