UFC Vegas 14: Felder Vs. Dos Anjos Preliminary Results

The much awaited fight between Paul Felder and Rafael dos Anjos is almost here. It is going to be one cracker of a match as Paul took the fight on an extremely short notice. But, before that we had the prelims which kicked things off. Here are the results from the prelims!
Heavyweight : Don’Tale Mayes vs. Roque Martinez
Don’Tale Mayes def. Roque Martinez by unanimous decision : The first fight of the UFC FIGHT NIGHT : FELDER VS. DOS ANJOS went the full three rounds. In a 506-pound encounter, American Don’Tale Mayes emerged victorious over Roque Martinez after putting on a dominant show in all the three rounds.
Round 1
They began with a few leg kicks. Mayes began with a strong right hand. Martinez then charged in with a small combo. Mayes landed an elbow in return, followed by a three-punch combo. In, the last minute, Mayes took down Martinez. And, the round ended. 10-9 Mayes
Round 2
Mayes landed a knee after being warned by the referee for the 5th time for opening his fingers. He landed another knee. A dominant Mayes then landed a straight right hand to the chin of Martinez. Martinez responded with a body shot. Mayes landed a combo and then followed it with a kick and knee. Martinez finally found his feet, landing a combo and then attempting a takedown. Martinez then landed an uppercut, while Mayes responded with a combo and an almost successful head kick. 10-9 Mayes
Round 3
The round began with a lot of circling, especially from the cautious Mayes. That got him into trouble when he got pushed to the fence, almost being defeated by a guillotine from Martinez. Mayes somehow escaped from the clutches of Martinez. Then Mayes gained control, and hit him with a flying knee and another one to the chest. 10-9 Mayes
Winner : Don’Tale Mayes def. Roque Martinez by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
Welterweight : Alex Morono vs. Rhys McKee
Alex Morono def. Rhys McKee by unanimous decision. In the welterweight division Alex Morono of America took on Rhys McKee the Irishman. Alex Morono thoroughly dominated all the three rounds, eventually winning by unanimous decision.
Round 1
It was Morono who began with a nice combo. He then follows it up with a jab and a one two. McKee somehow found his feet, but it was Morono who was in control even then. Morono then landed an elbow followed by a big right hand. It was followed by a lot of flirting around the cage, with Morono ending the round strong. 10-9 Morono
Round 2
Mckee began the round strong. With McKee in control, Morono took charge with a flurry of punches followed by a takedown. Morono hit with a jab while McKee responded with an uppercut. But, Morono was up for it and he countered very strongly. 10-9 Morono
Round 3
McKee tried to up the ante in the final round, as he was clearly behind going into the final round. But, a cautious Morono keeps him in check. McKee then landed a shot to the body hurting Morono. Then there is a hilarious break in search of a new mouthpiece. When the fight resumed, both the fighters traded jabs. But, Morono ended the round strongly once again with hard elbows while grounding McKee. 10-9 Morono
Winner : Alex Morono def. Rhys McKee by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
