UFC FIGHT NIGHT HALL VS SILVA : PRELIMINARY RESULTS

We are just hours away from Anderson Silva’s last ride in the octagon. The Legendary Brazilian will face Uriah Hall at UFC APEX in the main event of the night. Before that we had the prelims which kicked things off. Here are the results from the prelims!

Bantamweight : Miles Johns vs Kevin Natividad

Miles Johns def. Kevin Natividad via KO : The first fight of the UFC Fight Night : Hall vs Silva ended in a devastating third round KO from Miles Johns of USA. He defeated fellow American Kevin Natividad with a brutal uppercut in the third round.

Round 1

Miles Johns was the aggressor when the bout began. He connected Kevin with a few jabs bruising his forehead. Then Miles Johns had a few successful takedowns before ending the first round. 10-9 Johns

Round 2

Kevin Natividad picked up steam in the second round. He connected with a few jabs and elbows before Johns found his way back. Johns then pushed Kevin to the fence landing some strong knees. John then landed some jabs before ending the round with a clattering back fist. 10-9 Johns

Round 3

Being behind, Kevin tried his best to come into the fight, but got caught by a ripper of an uppercut from Johns. That ended the fight.

Winner :  Miles Johns def. Kevin Natividad by KO at 2:51 of Round 3

Light Heavyweight : Dustin Jacoby vs Justin Ledet

Dustin Jacoby def. Justin Ledet by TKO : The second match marked the return of Dustin Jacoby to the UFC after a long gap of 8 years. He faced fellow American Justin Ledet in a light heavyweight bout, defeating him via a brutal first round KO.

Round 1

Jacoby began with a hard right hand before allowing Ledet to assert his authority with a couple of one twos from his side. But, Jacoby came roaring back with a strong leg kick flooring Ledet. Ledet managed to get back only to be knocked out by a right uppercut from Jacoby. What a comeback for Dustin Jacoby!

Winner : Dustin Jacoby def. Justin Ledet by TKO at 2:38 of Round 1

Welterweight : Cole Williams vs Jason Witt

Jason Witt def. Cole Williams via submission : In the welterweight division vastly experienced Americans, Jason Witt and Cole Williams faced-off. Jason Witt emerged victorious via a submission after putting up a dominant performance.

Round 1

Just 20 seconds into the round Jason Witt got down to business, he grounded Cole Williams and had him grounded for the entire round. In the process of having him grounded, Witt also landed some serious strikes which cut open Williams’s forehead.

Round 2

Going into Round 2, Witt grounded Williams again. Midway into the round, the dominant Witt forced Williams to tap via an arm triangle.

Winner : Jason Witt def. Cole Williams by submission (arm triangle) at 2:09 of Round 

Middleweight : Sean Strickland vs Jack Marshman

Sean Strickland def. Jack Marshman by unanimous decision : Sean Strickland made his return to the octagon after two years! He faced Welshman, Jack Marshman. In a very vocal bout, Sean Strickland came up trumps via a unanimous decision.

Round 1

The round was dominated by Sean Strickland. He kept landing punches, while avoiding the same from his opponent. Only in the last 30 seconds did the Welshman inflict some damage, when he connected with a couple of hard shots. 10-9 Strickland

Round 2

Sean left where he started in the second round, landing a few jabs. But, the Welshman was up to the challenge as he kept throwing back as well. The second round saw both the fighters trash talking a lot. This round belonged to Sean again. 10-9 Strickland

Round 3

Sean was the aggressor once again going into the final round. Both the fighters exchanged a barrage of punches. And though, Sean landed quite a lot of jabs, the hard-as-nails Marshman kept eating it. 10-9 Strickland

Winner : Sean Strickland def. Jack Marshman by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Bantamweight : Adrian Yanez vs Victor Rodriguez

Adrian Yanez def. Victor Rodriguez by KO : This match was a quickie as Adrian Yanez from Texas knocked out debutant Victor Rodriguez in the very first round.

Round 1

Yanez began the round as the aggressor. Rodriguez kept negating Yanez’s striking with his grappling moves early in the round. Yanez then landed a few kicks on Rodriguez. Rodriguez then was unable to withstand the brute force of Yanez and finally succumbed to a strong left kick to the head. What a knockout!

Winner : Adrian Yanez def. Victor Rodriguez by KO at 2:46 of Round 1

Lightweight : Chris Gruetzemacher vs Alexander Hernandez

Alexander Hernandez def. Christ Gruetzemacher by TKO : Alexander Hernandez got back on track after his loss against Drew Dober, with a stunning first round KO against fellow American Chris Gruetzemacher.

Round 1

Alexander Hernandez was lightning quick right from the very beginning. Gruetzemacher literally had no clue for the barrage of attacks unleashed by Hernandez. He kept hitting him with a flurry of strikes, before the referee waved off the fight. Immense from Alexander Hernandez!

Winner : Alexander Hernandez def. Christ Gruetzemacher by TKO at 1:46 of Round 1
