Francis Ngannou, the former heavyweight champion of the UFC, has finally ended his time as a free agent. The Predator announced that he will join the PFL promotion after months of speculation from fight fans. He left the UFC in early 2023 following a long dispute with the promotion over a new contract.

According to reports, Ngannou successfully got everything he wanted in his contract with PFL. This involved “equity and leadership” in the promotion. On top of that, the ‘Predator’ will also be appointed as the chairman of the new PFL Africa division.

Ngannou will make his PFL MMA debut next year in the super-fight PPV division. Followed by his much-anticipated boxing match that will take place this year, he will return to PFL. Negotiations for a Tyson Fury boxing bout will help the ‘Predator’ make extra millions.

Ngannou’s new deal comes with a lot of freedom for the fighter, which he didn’t get in UFC. Regarding Francis Ngannou’s salary, according to Aron Bronsteter, the PFL is willing to offer a $2 million minimum purse for each fight to the fighter.

Ngannou is one of the biggest MMA superstars in the world, and it will definitely help PFL to bring in new viewers. That will ultimately decide Francis’s pay-per-view share in future fights. Either way, Ngannou could make somewhere in 8-figures for each fight in the PFL.

After the announcement, the Cameroonian-French posted a video on his YouTube channel revealing that he decided to move to PFL after a lot of consideration. According to the fighter, this is the best move with respect to his career, family, and business.

Francis Ngannou joined UFC in 2015 and went undefeated for six consecutive fights. According to theSportsdaily, Francis Ngannou’s salary against Anthony Hamilton in which the fighter earned $124,500. At UFC 220, Ngannou lost against Stipe Miocic in a UFC heavyweight match-up but took home $530,000. 

Ngannou’s other huge PPV paycheck was at UFC 249, in which he defeated Jairzinho Rozenstruik and made a total of $320,000. In his rematch against Miocic in 2021, he finally got his hands on the heavyweight title and also earned a fight purse of $580,000. His biggest paycheck in UFC was in his last fight against Ciryl Gane, in which the fighter bagged around a million.

During his time in UFC, Ngannou had a total career earnings of about $3,379,500 with an overall net worth of about $6 million. However, in comparison to the UFC, the PFL contract does look better, given that the fighter will get nearly $10 million as the base salary. On top of that, his becoming the head of PFL Africa will add to his overall earnings from the promotion.
