“Hats off to Nick and Nate Diaz,” UFC lightweight Frank Camacho says he has huge respect for the Diaz brothers

The Diaz Brothers

Frank Camacho who is a welterweight fighter has high praise for Nick Diaz and Nate Diaz. The pro-MMA fighter thinks both the Diaz brothers have an endurance that is unparalleled by anyone in the game.

Camacho recently contracted the COVID-19 virus and in order to recover, he tried doing the triathlons, the Diaz brothers inspired him to do. After trying out triathlons the lightweight has a different level of respect for Nick and Nate. In a recent interview with reporter John Hyon Ko, Camacho spoke about these triathlons both the brothers are known for doing.

“If anything that I picked up a lot after I got COVID was endurance. Cycling and distance running. Hats off to Nick and Nate. That triathlon stuff is fu****g hard. Especially for the Diaz brothers, they are long and they are lanky, and they can keep that pace. For me, I find that beneficial on the physical side but more so on the mental side,” said Frank in the interview. Now we know why the brothers from Stockton are tough inside the octagon.

How good are Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz at triathlons?

Nate has been doing triathlons since he was 18 years old. The fighter’s fitness trainer Gonzalez said that triathlons helped Diaz’s brother in the fights against Conor McGregor. “Usual work-outs are a triathlon work-out and a fight work-out, two-to-three hours each with a break to eat and refuel. One day off per week,” trainer Gonzalez said in 2016.

Even Nate has said that it has been his success for MMA. “People say ‘you compete in triathlons because it helps with your fighting’. But nowadays I like to think I fight so I can afford to pay for some good races,” is a quote of Nate from the past. That should put into perspective how much triathlons mean to the fighter.

Nick Diaz has finished 36th out of a possible 292 in the 2011 Donner Lake Triathlon. Given that both the brothers are natural MMA fighters and do that for a living, it is pretty impressive how good those two are at triathlons. Do you think that running, swimming, and cycling at a professional level has been a factor for the brothers to tire their opponents out inside the octagon?
