“I think he should come back and maybe fight Nate Diaz,” Georges St-Pierre likes the idea of Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz
Georges St-Pierre on Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor suffered a series of losses against the former interim-lightweight champion Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier, many fighters believe that Conor is way past his prime and he isn’t the same fighter anymore.
Georges St-Pierre has now joined such people but he isn’t against the idea of Conor’s comeback, he just thinks Conor needs a different approach for his comeback.
Talking to MMA Fighting, St-Pierre dropped an interesting piece of advice for Conor, he said, “If he comes back… If I’m his manager, I don’t want my client to come back to fight the same guy again for the fourth time. Because now it seems like Dustin has his number. He needs to perhaps take another fight.”
“I think he should come back and maybe fight Nate Diaz or someone else that has a different style than Dustin Poirier,” he said. “Because styles make fights and I have the feeling that now Dustin Poirier probably has his number right now.”
Georges St-Pierre claims Conor McGregor has lost some of his abilities due to inactivity
Conor returned to the octagon after a two-year layoff in 2020 to compete against Donald Cerrone, he then went out for another year and competed against Dustin Poirier in 2021, Conor lost that fight, and he acknowledged that he needs to be more active.
St-Pierre pointed out that such a long lay-off can affect even the best of the best, he thinks Conor should spend some more time inside the octagon before taking on Dustin Poirier.
He stated, “Conor’s been out for a long time. He needs to get back in there to spend more time in the Octagon, in order to find his own self, the way he moves, and his ability. It seems like he might have lost some of his ability, due to his inactivity.”
