Nick Diaz faced the biggest challenge of his career against the UFC Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 158. Diaz always indicated his desire to compete against the legendary Canadian fighter. After waiting for two years, he got his wish fulfilled in 2013.

Both fighters competed for the UFC Welterweight title at The Bell Center in Canada. Georges St-Pierre defeated Nick Diaz on the scorecard. St-Pierre showcased his class with dominant wrestling, ground control, and jabs in the matchup. Diaz had no answer for St-Pierre’s wrestling and could not get back on his feet. In the brief moment when St-Pierre did not use his wrestling, Diaz landed some significant shots. However, it did not amount to anything, as GSP took Diaz down at will.

The story did not end after the fight. Nick Diaz said, “I think whoever tries to make that fight, I’m going to have to give him a backhand slap.” First, Diaz blamed the UFC officials and then accused Canada Athletic Commission of their bias towards GSP.

And to justify himself (Nick Diaz), he said, “At the end of the day, I fought [St-Pierre], and they poisoned my IV with some kind of weird-ass drug. It put me to sleep!” stating that it was his career’s biggest fight and someone purposefully sabotaged him to lose the fight. He also stated that he could not put all his strength into the fight as he felt weak, which he never did before.

Nick Diaz accused everyone of sabotaging his fight against Georges St-Pierre. He said, “I have 37 fights, been fighting for 17 years, and I never slept more than five or six hours a night. I slept 14 hours.” Then Nick Diaz boldly stated, “Georges St-Pierre was on steroids when I fought him,” on the Chael Sonnen Podcast.

Georges St-Pierre took the accusations seriously. GSP said, “Wait for me to come back in a year, man. I’ll f*** him up.”. GSP claimed he never took steroids in his life; later, he got outraged and wanted to fight Diaz again for the disrespect. GSP said all of this inside the hospital, treating his injuries.

Fight fans and GSP hoped for a rematch against Diaz. However, it never materialized. GSP is one of the nicest fighters in the UFC for his calm behavior, but the gangster behavior of Nick Diaz pushed GSP to the brink of sanity.
