Gilbert Burns eyeing a fight against Jorge Masvidal upon return following Khamzat Chimaev loss

Gilbert Burns recently shocked the whole world of MMA after producing a potential fight of the year with Khamzat Chimaev. The pair locked horns at UFC 273 and went on a brutal war inside the octagon.

Before the fight, Burns was considered the underdog as Chimaev had an enormous hype around him. Many thought that ‘The Borz’ would beat Burns in the first rounds but the reality was far different. Burns went toe to toe with Chimaev for three rounds and did some serious damage. It was an extremely close fight which could have gone either way but at the end Chimaev was declared the winner.

The heart shown by both the fighters was highly appreciated by the fight fans and the fight is considered classic. After that, many are waiting for Burns to return to the octagon soon.

Burns have been pretty active lately on twitter. The Brazilian has been calling out fighters from his division in order to fight them next.

Recently Burns took to Twitter to share a post in which there is a picture of him and Masvidal. In the caption, the fighter wrote several ‘eye’ emojis almost like he is calling Masvidal for a fight.

” ???? @GamebredFighter ,” wrote Burns.

Logically, for Burns it’s a great fight as Masvidal is a huge superstar. After the fight with Chimaev, Burns had shown his interest in fighting big money fights and this is exactly what he needs. Durinho has already proved time to time that is an absolute beast inside the octagon. After UFC 273, the fighter also has gained many new fans.

So now to choose a fight which will get me more money is no harm for the fighter. On the other hand, it might not be the best option for Masvidal to take the challenge. There’s no doubt that ‘ Gamebred’ is an elite level striker but for him it’s not the best time to take someone like Burns who is carrying a lot of confidence. Anyways, it will be interesting to see if this call-out will lead to anything.
