Gilbert Burns gives update following Khamzat Chimaev fight at UFC 273
Gilbert Burns wants to knockout Khamzat Chimaev the next time he meets him inside the octagon. Burns and Chimaev went to war at UFC 273 and gave fight fans an instant classic MMA bout. The fight was the people’s main event and didn’t disappoint the fans at all.
After three rounds of brutal exchanges, ‘The Borz’ was announced the winner via unanimous decision. Fans all around the world had mixed feelings regarding the results. However, both the fighters had to respect the Jury’s decision and accept it.
Gilbert Burns certainly took a gamble against Khamzat Chimaev. So, he knew what he was signing for. While all the ranked fighters in the welterweight division he took the fight. So, he should be praised for that.
Gilbert Burns intends to fight Khamzat Chimaev in a rematch
After giving such a memorable performance at UFC 273, Burns recently did an interview with TMZ Sports. In the interview, the 35-year-old opened up about his fight with Chimaev and what he wants next in his career.
While talking about the fight, Burns revealed that he has unfinished business with Chimaev and soon both will face each other. Burns explained that the next time he and Chimaev fight, one of them has to get knocked out. It will not matter how many rounds it will take, someone, gotta have to get a finish. The Brazilian explained that he gave a chance to an 11 ranked fighter to fight with him out of courtesy. Now he wants the same courtesy in return and he is definitely going to fight Chimaev again.
“ I’m just think, we’re not done, you know with me Khamzat, we gotta see each other again we gotta. Someone’s gonna go down this time. You know, I don’t care how many rounds he needed but someone gotta get a finish next time soon. I want that courtesy back. You know, he was number 11, giving a courtesy we fought, now I want the same one back. I’m gonna fight this guy again,” said Burns
Currently, it’s hard to tell when both these beasts will take on each other. Chimaev is most probably going to take on Colby Covington and if things go well, might as well get a title shot. But whenever this rematch happens, fight fans will be extremely excited to see it.
