UFC Welterweights and former 2-time title challengers Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal have already sworn to leave no stones unturned when they are locked inside the cage against each other. For Masvidal, he is going to hurt Covington, not just for himself, but his current teammate at American Top Team, former 2-time title challenger at UFC lightweight division, Dustin Poirier, especially for the remarks Covington has made multiple times in the past about Poirier’s wife, Jolie Poirier.
Masvidal and Covington are going to indulge in a massive fight against each other booked at UFC 272, it’s already out there in the promo that they are best friends turned bitter rivals now. But Covington has his reservations of bad blood against Poirier too who mutually doesn’t like Covington either because of his character of being a foul-mouthed person who talks trash to promote the fights. Covington’s trash-talking has no bounds on Poirier too for the former has talked dirty about the latter’s wife multiple times.
Not only that, but Covington has also talked about Poirier’s charity, The Good Fight Foundation is a way for Poirier to avoid taxes and has also claimed that Poirier’s uses his daughter as a prop to get the donation. Poirier, on the other hand, doesn’t give much attention to Covington but there’s a possibility in future that Poirier might be moving up to the welterweight due to difficulties in weight cutting for fighting in the lightweight division, based on which maybe we see a Covington vs Poirier fight too in future.
Jorge Masvidal questions Colby Covington’s sexuality, promises to break his face
In an interview for MMA Fighting‘s The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Jorge Masvidal talks about how Covington has lost all honour when he decided to get down to talk about his potential rival’s wife and in Mrs Poirier and how Covington will pay for it. Masvidal also makes a remark on Covington’s sexuality.
“Let’s go, man, I’m gonna f**in’ break your face,“ says Masvidal referring to Covington. “Everything that you’ve said we’re gonna have to see what’s up when we get in that cage, you know there’s an individual I don’t think anybody likes him… talking about ex-teammates’ wives and stuff like that for what? You’re gonna fight the dude or chick?“ continues Masvidal asking Covington if he wants to fight Dustin or Mrs Poirier.
“You know he’s confused about his life as much as he is confused about his sexuality and it’s not that I am making fun of him, it’s just like ‘you’re a confused dude, bro, and I am gonna straighten you out,“ concludes Masvidal.
