On this day seven years ago one of the greatest fights of UFC happened, i.e. the title defense between for Light Heavyweight Champ Jon Bones Jones and Alexander the Mauler Gustafsson.
Before this fight Jon Jones was on a 9 fight win streak and Gustafsson was on a 6 fight win streak.
Many of the people were thinking it will be going too easy for Jon Jones to win this fight but the Mauler took him by surprise.
The fight was a total chaos and both of them absolutely ripped each other apart.
The fight Summary of Jon Jones and Mauler
From the very first round the Mauler landed heavy blows on Jonny bones and that even surprised him. Gustafsson’s footwork and punches was on another level that day which took everyone by surprise. The Mauler even took Jon Jones down and both of them were landing heavy blows over each other.
This was the fight in which Jon Jones was hit the most number of times in the 4th round Jones landed a hard elbow that landed right on the Mauler’s face.
But even that didn’t take him out of the fight and the fight went to end after the 5th round.
Jon Jones was announced winner by the judges after the end of 5 rounds but Gustafsson was the main attraction of this fight.
Even the UFC president Dana White said that he is the only one that took John Jones into deep water.
White also said this was the greatest light heavyweight title defense of UFC and due to which this fight was inducted in the UFC Hall of Fame.
It has been 7 years to this fight but it will still give chill to your spine whenever you watch this fight again.
