“He’s no joke man,” Israel Adesanya cosigns Jake Paul’s boxing career and his growth in the fighting world
Israel Adesanya and Jake Paul
Israel Adesanya dropped his two cents on the career of Jake Paul. The UFC middleweight champion rates the YouTube sensation and believes he has what it takes to become a top boxer.
Ever since his title defense against Robert Whittaker at UFC 271, Israel Adesanya has been going around doing media tours and this time it was the Brilliant Idiots podcast hosted by Andrew Schulz and Charlamagne that God to feature the middleweight champion. Izzy went on the show and made his thoughts on Jake Paul and called the YouTuber “Crazy” for doing what he does.
Adesanya has not only met Jake but also commentated on his fight against Nate Robinson. Jake knocked out Robinson and got his stocks to go through the roof with brilliant marketing and promotion. “Nah, Jake Paul’s no joke man,” said Izzy on the YouTuber. One of the main reasons why Adesanya believes Jake could be a success in boxing is because he has all the time and access in the world to help him become a great boxer.
“This is the thing. When he fought Nate Robinson, I was there. I commentated that fight and I ended up at his house later on and I didn’t realize how big of a fan he was. Being at his house, talking to him, we talked for a long time and realized, this guy is crazy,” said Izzy on the Brilliant Idiots podcast.
Israel Adesanya says Jake is serious about boxing
After spending time with the boxer, Izzy confirms that Jake is very serious about his boxing career. “He was serious about boxing. People just thought he’s just doing this for fun, he’s just doing this to try and make money, or get clout. But I was like, No. He’s got all the funds. All the access to be able to get it done,” said Adesanya.
Adesanya is really looking forward to seeing how Jake performs against professional boxers inside the ring, however. Paul has not fought a professional boxer in his career and has beat former MMA champions, a retired basketball player, and a fellow YouTuber.
Paul was very close to taking on Tyson Fury’s younger brother, Tommy Fury in a professional boxing match but the English boxer had to pull out last moment owing to an injury caused in the training camp. While Fury is now calling for a reschedule, Jake has yet not shown interest to fight the Fury brother.
