“How are you not ready?” Stephen A Smith torches Jorge Masvidal for his performance against Colby Covington

Stephen A Smith rips Jorge Masvidal

Stephen A Smith could not believe the performance of MMA superstar Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. The ESPN reporter was beyond disappointed after “Gamebred” was dominated by Covington in the main event.

UFC 272 was a complete blockbuster and the main event had everything that a fan would want in a fight. The matchup of Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal had the drama, great buildup, and an amazing fight in the end to deliver. However, Stephen A Smith was puzzled by how Masvidal came out in the fight and was dominated by his former roommate, training partner, Covington for five rounds.

Despite managing to drop “Chaos” a couple of times, Masvidal was never truly in a position to beat his rival. At the post-fight press conference, Jorge came out and admitted that his wrestling was flat and Stephen A believes that is unacceptable from a fighter of his caliber. In the recent episode of First Take on ESPN, Smith gives his reaction to Masvidal vs Covington.

“I saw Masvidal and he was gutsy and survived the five rounds, waving Covington on, ‘come on, let’s get some more.’ He was literally using two security personnel to lean on because that’s how exhausted he was,” Stephen A said on the First Take. The sports journalist believes Covington was in better shape than Masvidal and that “Gamebred” should have put in a lot more work coming into this fight.

“The guy [Colby Covington] is in phenomenal shape, he’s an outstanding wrestler, and Masvidal admitted that his wrestling was flat. How is it this flat coming into it knowing this guy as well as you know him, and knowing what he was trying to do to you and How much you supposedly hate him. How were you not ready for a wrestling match?” Smith ripped Masvidal in his review of the fight.

Masvidal lost the fight to his friend turned enemy via unanimous decision at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Masvidal is currently 3-2 in his last five fights with a record of 35-15.
