The former lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov has kept his family and personal life very quiet, saying little about them. Nurmagomedov has one elder brother and one younger sister but none of them have any connection with the UFC.
Although Khabib’s siblings are unrelated to the UFC, he has three cousins who have competed in the UFC as well as other promotions. Abubakar Nurmagomedov, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s eldest relative, competed in the welterweight division of UFC until February 2024 and has a record of 17-4-1. He had a significant role in the controversial altercation with Conor McGregor following UFC 229. Abubakar is currently signed with Global Fight League.
Usman Nurmagomedov has been on an undefeated streak since his MMA professional debut. He has been in contract with Bellator MMA competing in their lightweight division since 2021, where he is the champion now. He is 18-0 (1 NC) in his career so far.
Another of his cousins, Umar Nurmagomedov has also been on an undefeated streak since his debut. He made his UFC debut back in 2021 and since then has been on a staggering 6-fight unbeaten run.
Khabib’s brother Magomed Nurmagomedov also has some background in wrestling even though he never competed in any professional fights. It seems his cousins are doing enough to carry on the legacy of the Dagestan and Nurmagomedov family in UFC.
Said Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev are often mistaken as Khabib Nurmagomedov’s brothers
The fighter in UFC who is often mistaken for being related to Khabib Nurmagomedov is Said Nurmagomedov. The Bantamweight does come from the same region as Khabib and does have the same ancestors but is not related by blood. Said made his UFC debut in 2018 and has a very successful record inside the Octagon with just one defeat to his name (in the UFC).
Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev is also sometimes linked to Khabib’s family tree. Even though both of the fighters have trained together since their childhood and share a brotherly bond, they are not related by blood. Makhachev has been a very successful successor to his friend Khabib’s legacy in the UFC.
Sometimes even Hasbulla Magomedov is mistaken for being Khabib’s relative. Dubbed as mini Khabib, the TikTok star also hails from Dagestan which has created speculation of him being related to Khabib. But in reality, the internet sensation has no links to the former lightweight champion.
