UFC’s fan-favorite Nate Diaz is finally coming back to action this weekend against Leon Edwards at UFC 263. The fight will go on for 5 rounds and what’s better than watching Stockton gangster fighting for five whole rounds.
Nate has not fought in the octagon for almost 2 years, which is considered a long break for a fighter. But the fighter from Stockton has not been whiling his time away instead, working hard. He is coming off a loss against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 where they fought for the BMF title. Nate lost via TKO as the doctors did not clear him to fight after he got a cut in his eye.
Meanwhile, Leon Edwards is coming off an unfortunate ‘No contest’ fight against Belal Muhammad after the Britisher poked his eye causing it to bleed. But prior to that, the fighter from Britain was on an 8-fight consecutive winning streak and has technically not lost a fight yet. “Rocky” is a great fighter and is in great form but the battle against someone like Nate is never an easy mountain to climb.
Nate Diaz has a serious advantage over Leon Edwards
Leon is an exceptional fighter and there is no doubt about the skills he possesses. Edwards has always taken the patient and slow approach to his fight in the past but he will be dealing with a different animal at UFC 263. Nate comes in hot and he might pull something that can catch Edwards off-guard. Diaz also has the ability to turn around his opponents’ pressure while Edwards which is not what he is used to.
The most serious advantage to Diaz is that Leon has always been the bigger guy in the welterweight while fighting. But Nate does not allow him to make use of the full reach. The Stockton fighter himself has incredible reach and his striking is not from the books. The younger Diaz brother could turn the fight around his way when no one expects him to. The one thing Leon can take advantage of is that ‘Fight rust”. Diaz has not been in the octagon for two years.
