“I humbled him”- Israel Adesanya reflects upon his victory against Robert Whittaker at UFC 243
Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker at UFC 243
Israel Adesanya is training ahead of the biggest fight of his career and the “Stylebender” spares some time for his fans to give us the details of what went down in his first meeting with Robert Whittaker.
Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker will be meeting each other for the second time in the main event of UFC 271. The fight is set to take place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Adesanya is looking to cement his spot as the GOAT of the middleweight division and Whittaker is looking to reclaim the belt that he lost to the Nigerian.
With only a week left for the huge PPV event, Izzy sits down for an unfiltered interview on his YouTube channel. When asked about what his thoughts were about the first fight, Adesanya talks about whether he intended to go toe-to-toe with Whittaker which then secured him a TKO in the second round. Izzy truly believes he made a statement at UFC 243 and humbled the former champion.

” I can stand ten toes down,” Israel Adesanya on his thoughts during the exchange with Whittaker
“We had a game plan, but I matched his energy. You wanna stand ten toes down? F**k it, I can stand ten toes down. I can buck wild,” said Izzy in the interview. “I fought differently. At the end of the first round when I dropped him, I wasn’t even fazed. I was going to do something but I said to myself, “So aight bet. Focus and back to it.”
Israel was not a huge favorite heading into this fight. “The Reaper” was heading into that fight with a nine-fight win streak. Whittaker clearly undermined Izzy at that fight and Adesanya talks about how he humbled him. “I guess I humbled him to the sense that he can’t say the shit he was saying the first time around. He was saying, ‘Adesanya isn’t as good as he thinks he is.’ I remember that. I will show you how great I am.”
Adesanya was the interim champion when he fought Whittaker at UFC 243 and stunned the world when he knocked out a dominant Whittaker. This time around, Israel has three title defenses while Robert has worked his way up to another title shot with a three-fight undefeated run. Do you think Adesanya can beat Whittaker at UFC 271?
