Former UFC interim-Lightweight champion Dustin Poirier might have got his hopes out for another title shot as of now, but that surely doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to fight as soon as possible. Poirier, who lost his second title shot in his last fight against UFC lightweight chmampion Charles Oliveira is on a nearly 4-month layoff from the competition despite no serious damage taken from the last time he entered the Octagon. Poirier is one of the most fan-favourite fighters in the UFC history with names of former champions spread across his victory list.

Poirier has been very active on Twitter lately with him calling out for a fight with Nate Diaz time and again. Poirier and Diaz were first scheduled to fight at UFC 230 back in 2018, however, the fight fell apart from happening for some reason from either side. Now, both Poirier and Diaz have affirmed that they wanna fight against each other inside the Octagon. It’s up to the UFC to tell what’s stopping them from making it happen.

Poirier came out on Twitter to express his hunger for the competition coming back as a fighter and just wrote “I want to fight” It wasn’t that long ago that even Poirier’s verbal rival Nate Diaz was asking for a release from the UFC because he wasn’t getting any fights either. Diaz said in his tweet “I Would like to request to be released from the @ufc@danawhite@hunter I apologize for asking online but u don’t give me a fight asap I got shit to do”

What do you make of Poirier’s tweet having to ask UFC for a fight publicly? What do you think might be the reason for the UFC falling into this unique situation of not being able to give fights to fighters, and sometimes that too the ones the fans are asking for? Do you think the UFC has already mapped out separate plans for Diaz and Poirier? Or are they close to formulating a successful deal for both Diaz and Poirier before proposing them to fight each other? Who do you think wins between Diaz and Poirier if they ever fight?
