Khamzat Chimaev talks about his intense training
Khamzat Chimaev is a monster in and out of the octagon. The secret behind his success according to Borz is the intense training ahead of fights.
It is no secret that the fighter from Chechnya is an absolute freak of nature and is one of the most talented fighters we have witnessed in the UFC. Khamzat Chimaev has taken over the UFC by a storm and has already put his name amongst the best fighters on the roster. The fighter now has a growing fanbase and is a superstar in many parts of the world.
If Chimaev’s fighting game was already not complete, the fighter is now training in Thailand to improve his Muay Thai. Chimaev recently spoke to RT Sport about his training sessions and why he prefers to train twice as much as any other fighter.
“Yes, I do [train five times a day]. When I am in a training camp ahead of a fight,” said Khamzat talking to the RT Sport interviewer. “After fights, I go down to training 2-3 times a day. Now I am having 3-4 sessions a day…Anything is possible for a human being.”

Khamzat Chimaev says he can’t live without training in the gym

“It’s all about the mind. If a man is ready to do things others don’t do, he will succeed,” says Khamzat Chimaev in the interview. “Borz” looks at legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather as an example. It is very well known that Floyd trains for 5 hours during his fight camp. Chimaev says he has hard training sessions during fight week and then after the fight he tones things down a notch for a couple of months.
“I can’t live without training. If I haven’t done 2-3 sessions in a day I feel stressed. If it’s four sessions I feel good. After 5 hours of training, when the whole body hurts, then I feel like I am satisfied with the work I’ve done,” said Chimaev. “If nothing hurts, if I am not suffering – I feel bad, I feel like I haven’t done anything.”
Khamzat Chimaev is now 10-0 in his fighting career and is looking to fight for the title in UFC this year. His most recent win is against Li Jingliang at UFC 267 where he submitted the veteran under 4 minutes. Are you excited to see Chimaev return to the octagon?
