Booker T is probably one of the most recognizable forces in sports-entertainment history, all kudos to his decades of hard work and contribution to professional wrestling. The former 5-time WCW champion was also known for his catchphrase he would literally shout “5 time” five times! Booker’s persona inside the octagon was one of the most enthusiastic ever in professional wrestling, in particular during his days in WCW and then in WWE. Booker was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.

In relation to MMA, Booker has time and again expressed his interest in following combat sports and therefore saw himself amongst the media group at UFC 271 headlined by UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya going in a rematch against Robert Whittaker. Adesanya defeated Whittaker via unanimous decision in a relatively much difficult fight. During the post-fight press conference, Adesanya expressed his fan moment to Booker when the latter was in the media group asking questions.

Booker T came to MMA Fighting’s The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and talked about various things that included his experience watching UFC 271 alongside the live audience and his reaction to Adesanya taking his name during the post-fight press conference.

Humbled,” says Booker in reaction to Adesanya’ post-fight moment “In a word, just because it takes guys like that to keep guys like me relevant and I understand that I get it, it’s just that Bad Bunny [Puerto Rican Rapper] writing a song Booker T and then winning the grammy, that just opened up a whole different genre and I’m actually humbled so for Izzy to actually allow, you know pay respect to Booker T, it just lets me know how I made him feel [with him] as a young kid growing up hopefully one day hoping to inspire just like I did.”
