Francis Ngannou talks about knocking out Ciryl Gane in training

The mind games are already deployed by Francis Ngannou as he reveals the story behind him knocking out his rival Ciryl Gane in training.

The drama and tension leading up to UFC 270 are unbelievable. Two champions take on each other. One, with vicious intent inside the octagon while the other comes in with a cool head looking to outclass his opponent. Francis Ngannou spoke to the media ahead of his huge title fight against his former teammate Ciryl Gane. In the press conference, the Predator revealed he knocked out the Frenchman with a high kick.

This incident took place at Francis’ old gym so he believes there is a reason why the footage of him knocking out his rival has not been shown to the public. “There is a lot of reasons why that footage didn’t come out,” said Francis. Despite this accident, Francis is not taking any confidence from this going into the fight.

“Well, let me say this. That knockout wasn’t a voluntary knockout. It was an accident. I didn’t intend to knock him out, I didn’t go there to walk him out. Personally, I wouldn’t be proud of it, I would walk around going I knocked out my sparring partner,” said Francis talking to the media.

Francis and Ciryl were training partners for not a long time according to the Predator. However, the two did spend around 8 sessions in the gym together before Ngannou decide to change training centers. There is no footage of the high kick knockout of Francis against Ciryl in the gym. However, Veronica Macedo, a UFC bantamweight fighter who trained in the same gym as the two heavyweights admitted that Francis, in fact knocked out Ciryl by accident.

In a podcast hosted by former UFC commentator and MMA analyst, Dan Hardy, Veronica Macedo spoke about Francis knocking out Ciryl. “I think he is scared of Ngannou’s power. He has felt his power and Ngannou has put Ciryl down. This video was not shown but I will say it is true,” said Veronica. Watch the footage below:

“Anytime, Ciryl would tag him over and over again. Francis would get mad and swing at him. If it caught him a little bit, it knocks you out. It wasn’t the purpose of the sparring situation so it doesn’t apply.”
