Jorge Masvidal-Colby Covington and Maritza Masvidal
UFC Welterweight Colby Covington is all in to bury Jorge Masvidal with the latter’s past, even if it means brining on Masvidal’s alleged ex-wife, Maritza Masvidal. Masvidal and Covington are going to face each other at UFC 272 as their story goes down to become perhaps the baddest rivalry in the UFC history. Both the fighters last fought in their second title shot respectively against reigning UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.
Masvidal is a vicious stand up fighter with creative abilities to deceive his opponent into a cold knock out whereas Covington is a grappling heavy striker who has got sneaky and voluminous punches to land, with a threat of a scoring takedown in his hand. Masvidal and Covington were best friends and teammates for as long as 8 years when things turned around for the worse and both the fighters started spitting trashing each other brutally on a personal level.

In an interview with ESPN MMA Correspondent Brett Okamoto, Covington talks about everything from his side on how things changed with Masvidal from being best of friends to the most bitter of rivals.
“The guy’s been making fake narratives and fake news the whole week,” says Covington “None of these journalists do their job, they talk about I lived in on his couch… No bro, I didn’t live on his couch, I lived on her couch and I’m talking about his ex-wife, the mother of his children, Maritza, Maritza Colado, Maritza Masvidal, they’re still legally married… just ask him ‘why are you trying to delete Martiza from history, why are you deleting her and wiping her away from the internet.’
She did so much for us… he was a broke fighter, he was a loser, he didn’t have any sponsors, he didn’t have you know big money fights at that time, he was an up-and-coming fighter, I was a broke college kid so I had no money of course…so she gave us this roof over our head, put food on our table, she cleaned the house for us all the time… he gave her 2 kids and now he is a deadbeat dad, he doesn’t want to own up…” concluded Covington.
