“It’s not up to us anyway”- Eddie Cha justifies the UFC picking The Korean Zombie over Henry Cejudo for a title shot

The Korean Zombie
The Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Jung is going to face Alexander Volkanovski at the main event of UFC 273 for the featherweight belt. Volkanovski was supposed to face the former champion, Max Holloway for the third time, but he had to pull out because of an undisclosed injury.
Many called their shots, but the champion wanted to face TKZ. Zombie is preparing for this at Fight Ready under the guidance of his head coach Eddie Cha, and former two-division champion, Henry Cejudo. Cejudo retired from MMA while he was the champ, and he wanted to come back and become the three-division champ, by beating Alexander Volkanovski.
Obviously, Cejudo never got the fight, but he’s helping Zombie in every way shape, and form. Head coach Eddie Cha talked about this in his recent interview at The MMA Hour, he said, “Henry called me right away and said congratulations to Zombie for getting the fight. I told him I would’ve been happy with either getting it. It’s not up to us anyway, it’s not like we have a choice in the matter, it’s whoever the UFC chooses to go with.”
“I think he definitely deserves it”– head coach believes The Korean Zombie was the perfect choice for a title shot

Cha thought it was the perfect time for Cejudo to get the fight, but he’s happy to help Zombie fulfill his destiny. He claimed, “But I thought it would’ve been a great opportunity, just time-frame wise for Henry to get it. I’ve always wanted to see him make history. It could’ve been something special to see him go up and try to be a three-time champion. But at the same time, Zombie was next in line if you look at everybody who is in that top five. I think he definitely deserves it.”

“I think it’s going to be an exciting matchup,” Cha continued. “Zombie’s not in a boring fight, Volkanovski’s fights have been super exciting, just had a Fight of the Year with Ortega. But Henry’s been great. He’s been super supportive, and after Figueiredo’s fight, we talked about Zombie’s fight and said, ‘Let me know when he gets here. I’ll definitely help in any way I can, I’ve done a lot of scouting on,’ so he will be involved in Zombie’s camp as well.”
