“It’s not working, I can’t do it”- Paddy Pimblett recalls the time when he almost stepped away for MMA for good

Paddy Pimblett sat down with ESPN MMA for an online interview where he spoke about his newfound success as well as his early life in Liverpool. During the interview, Pimblett explained about his early career on how he was always determined to become the best in the world. The fighter shared his experience before his success as a professional MMA fighter when he was struggling to make a living.
According to Pimblett, back in 2011 when in London the MMA scene wasn’t that huge and it was synonymous with street fighting. During that time the fighter was struggling and was unable to make money out of fights and was on the verge of leaving MMA. The situation got so bad that he had to do stupid stuff just to get the money coming.
Paddy Pimblett even had a conversation with his coach regarding leaving the sport. “I called my coach, Paul..said I can’t continue…I’m only getting 500 pounds a fight. It’s not working, I can’t do it,” said Pimblett about his discussion with his coach. But during those hard times, his coach persuaded him to continue MMA and then his life changed as he went on a dominating winning streak in the Cage Warriors.

During the interview with ESPN, Pimblett was asked about his current fan following and the success that he got since his debut in the UFC, and what he thinks about the future of it. Responding to this the fighter was confident and explained that in the future his fan following will skyrocket and he will be a global superstar. “ I know within the next two, three, four years I’m not gonna be able to walk without security,” said Pimblett about his future.
The fighter also compared his upcoming success to the former Lightweight champion, Conor McGregor. ” I know for a fact it’s gonna be like what Mcgregor is like when he walks around in America,” said Pimblett.
The fighter also shared that he doesn’t have any problem with fans disturbing him in public as he likes public interactions and has no intentions to disappoint his fans. But according to the fighter what he dislikes is when fans interfere with him during a meal as it really annoys him.
