Jan Blachowicz will defend his UFC light heavyweight championship against the number one contender Glover Teixeira at the main event of UFC 267. The champion is confident that he will walk out from the area with the belt still wrapped around his belt, and he is already thinking about his next opponent.
UFC’s most promising and entertaining prospect, Jiri Prochazka was booked as the backup fighter for this title match, Jiri believes he is next in line for the title, and the champ is more than happy to face him. Jan revealed a matchup against Prochazka would be a good one, and he wants this fight to take place in Europe.
Talking about Jiri in his interview with MMA Fighting, Jan Blachowicz said, “Great run for him. He’s a crazy fighter but in a good way. Crazy, weird style but he knows how to use it. I believe I will fight against Glover and then maybe in the future with Jiri, but somewhere in Europe.”
He added, “If I have to fight Jiri, we have to do it in Poland or somewhere in Europe, because all of Europe would like to come and see this fight live. First, I have to beat Glover. The focus is on him. I hope so nothing will change cause when I beat Glover, maybe my next opponent will be Jiri, but this fight has to not be in Abu Dhabi, not in USA, in Europe.”

Jan Blachowicz’s homeland of Poland isn’t known to organize such huge MMA events, but he hopes that he will get to defend his belt in the national stadium, he said, “If this fight will happen, I hope it will be in Poland in the national stadium — 60,000 people will come to watch this fight. Weird style, crazy style, nice to watch. Against me, I think it’s going to be a good fight. Maybe in the future, we will see.”
Blachowicz likes the competition in his division, and all these young fighters motivate him to work harder, he claimed, “I’m very excited because we still have good fighters, young fighters. They come to the UFC, and they motivate me to go to the gym and train hard. I want to say thanks to Jiri, thanks to Rakic because they motivate me to be the champion. To go and train hard. When I finish my career in the UFC, I’ll leave the belt and they can fight for it.”
