“I followed her this entire time in the UFC,” Jessica Andrade open to welcome Miesha Tate at 125 lbs division
Jessica Andrade and Miesha Tate
The former UFC women’s Bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate is considering a move to the women’s Flyweight division since her friend, Julianna Pena created one of the biggest upsets in the UFC title fight history and defeated Amanda Nunes at the co-main event of UFC 269.
Along with this the former UFC women’s strawweight champion, Jessica Andrade also lost her shot to the Flyweight title when he faced a TKO loss against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 261. Now Andrade was eyeing a fight against Rose Namajunas, but the UFC president, Dana White revealed Carla Esparza is next for Namajunas.
Instead of waiting for the next title shot, Jessica Andrade is ready to welcome her former foe, Miesha Tate in the new division. Talking about the same in her latest interview with MMA Fighting, Andrade says,
“I recently read that Miesha is thinking about the idea of going down to 125 pounds and I would love to be her first opponent in this new weight class, maybe she never thought about it, but I entered the UFC because of her, when she went to shoot TUF with Ronda Rousey and withdrew from a fight with Liz Carmouche and I was signed as her replacement.” {H/t MMA Fighting}
Jessica Andrade claims she wants to fight Miesha Tate for a very long time
Jessica Andrade is 2-3 in her last five fights and Miesha Tate recently faced a loss against Ketlen Vieira in her last fight. Andrade claims she has been following Tate’s career for a really long time and she believes this is the ideal time for their match.
She continued, “Tate and I went different directions in the organization, but I followed her this entire time in the UFC when I still competed at 135, she won the 135 belt right after I dropped to 115. I believe that a fight between a former strawweight champion and a former bantamweight champion would be an interesting show for the fans.” {H/t MMA Fighting}
