Champion Jiri Prochazka vacated the Light Heavyweight title last year with a devastating shoulder injury. There were many conversations about why an interim Championship was not introduced. In the end, Jiri decided to vacate the title. Jiri’s actions have not gone unnoticed, as Anthony Smith thinks it is noble.

In an interview, Smith revealed what he really thought about Jiri vacating his title. Smith said, “ There will be guys who bitch and complain and try to skip the line in front of Jiří, but he never lost the title. The way he relinquished the belt was noble. It was cool of him to pull his oars out of the water so there wouldn’t be an interim champ. The next shot should be his once he’s ready.”

Smith has not fought since his TKO loss against Magomed Ankalaev. He will fight Johny Walker for his next fight in the main event. Smith will look to get back to title contention and potentially fight for the Light Heavyweight title again.
