There is no doubt that despite the several winners in the Oscars, the highlight of the night was legendary actor Will Smith slapping Chris Rock live on stage. The infamous event was seen by many worldwide including UFC commentator, Joe Rogan. Smith’s reaction to the joke made by Chris has left the world in splits with their own opinions.

Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Smith, on the stage of the Oscars. The comedian compared Jada’s look to that of G.I. Jane which initially got the laugh out of Will but the actor rushed to the stage moments later and slapped the comedian in the face live on television. Joe Rogan believes there was no reason for the actor to resort to violence when Rock was not in the wrong at any moment.

“That whole scene doing that in that manner, in that place, is a great example of what’s wrong in the glorification of just being able to go up to someone and smack them in the face. The whole thing was so weak,” said Rogan on the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. He was accompanied by a guest, Josh Barnett.

Joe Rogan says Will Smith was emotionally fragile

While many argued that Chris Rock’s joke was offensive because Jada had a condition known as alopecia which is an auto-immune disorder that leads to hair fall, Joe still believes it was nothing worth of violence. “That was not an insult. It was the most mild joke about her hairstyle in reference to a movie where a lady shaved her head,” said Joe in the podcast.

“The idea that there is any justification whatsoever of him and smacking him in the face like that. No! How do you have malicious intent in a mild joke? He [Will Smith] was emotionally fragile and he acted on impulse in a staggeringly stupid way.”

Joe has been a part of a lot of controversies lately but did not hold back one word while defending his comedian friend Chris Rock’s joke at the Oscars. Joe also compared Smith tearing up during the acceptance speech after his attack to the actor “sh*tting on the table” and the people having to look at it.
