The much-awaited heavyweight fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic is now being pushed back. In 2020, Jones vacated his light-heavyweight title and opened up about moving up a division. The fighter was clear about putting on some muscles and getting into training and was willing to take on Francis Ngannou for the heavyweight title.
But later when Ngannou confirmed that he has suffered a knee injury, Jones’s focus shifted towards Stipe Miocic. After that, it was rumoured that Miocic and Jones will face each other very soon. Even Dana White while talking to TMZ Sports confirmed that he is interested to see Jones this summer. He said :
“Listen, people have been talking about how awesome this card is, and I was just telling somebody the other day our lineup for this summer is incredible. I’m hoping that Jon Jones is gonna be a part of that lineup this summer.”
Jon Jones comments on the Stipe Miocic fight
Jones recently broke his silence regarding the highly-anticipated fight between him and Miocic. The former light heavyweight champion put out a tweet talking about the updates on the fight.
Jones revealed that Miocic has suggested that he will be in his best condition in September 2022. Bones explained that he is a little annoyed as he has to wait so long but it’s fine for the fighter. Jones also claimed that he wants to fight Miocic who is the heavyweight GOAT at his best, so he is ready to wait and there are no excuses.
“Stipe is saying that he will be at his absolute peak in September. I’m disappointed but patient, I want the heavyweight goat at his absolute best. I’ll wait until September. No excuses” wrote Jones on his Twitter.
In September two UFC GOATS will take on each other and the hype around it is massive. Jones will come into the fight with a win over Dominick Reyes at UFC 247. On the other hand, Miocic in his last fight lost to Francis Ngannou via KO.
