Will Smith won the award for the best actor at the 94th Academy Awards. It was a great night for the actor, as his role in the movie ‘King Richard’ received the appreciation it deserved, but that wasn’t the only thing he’ll be known for, for the rest of his life. Smith slapped Chris Rock who made a joke about his wife.

Rock was hosting the event, and he was making jokes about everyone in the audience. He then targeted Jada Pinkett Smith (Will’s wife) who is suffering from Alopecia Areata. In alopecia areata, the immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, causing inflammation. Researchers do not fully understand what causes the immune attack on hair follicles, but they believe that both genetic and environmental (non-genetic) factors play a role. (H/T NDTV.com)

Rock joked about this, and said, “Javier Bardem and his wife are both nominated. Now, if she loses, he can’t win. He is praying that Will Smith wins, like, please, lord. Jada, I love you. ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it, all right?”

Smith then walked up the stage, and slapped him, he then returned to his seat, and said, “Keep my wife’s name out of our fu*ng mouth.” Many reacted to this incident, and former UFC light heavyweight champion was one of them. He took to Twitter to react to this situation, and here are his Tweets.

“Anyone watching the Oscars? Will Smith is a gangster for that one, Chris rock was the ultimate professional for the way he continued.”

Someone pointed out the incident was fake, and Jones wrote, “I need to watch that back, looked pretty real to me.”

Will had the moment to give his speech after winning the award, he took the time to apologize to everyone in the audience. He didn’t mention Rock’s name, as he said, “I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people. Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams. Love will make you do crazy things.”

Will has been dealing with his split with Jada, and then he explained his reason for this assault, “I’m being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people. I know to do what we do, you got to be able to take abuse. You got to be able to have people talk crazy about you. In this business you got to be able to have people disrespecting you. And you got to smile and you got to pretend like that’s okay,” Will concluded.
