“Don’t fall in love with your wins”- Julianna Pena explains her mellow celebrations after UFC 269 win

After defeating an undefeated champion, you might expect someone to celebrate wildly and party with their friends and families. But the case of Julianna Pena is very different. The victory against Amanda Nunes was celebrated in a very mellow and sober way by the bantamweight title contender.

When asked about why she celebrated like that, she said, “I mean it’s hard, I want to say that I can process it, but I don’t really have all the way yet. Even if you see in all my other fights, I don’t celebrate my victories against any of my opponents. I think that it is disrespectful to the opponents. Mike Valley told me that don’t fall in love with your wins and don’t fall in love with your losses. You need to celebrate behind closed doors, not in the open.” Pena told MMA Hour.

Julianna Pena also continued to say that, ” You don’t have to make yourself freak out. It was a great moment. Everyone celebrates how they celebrate. I was actually in shock after the victory. I was like, ‘This is really over, that’s it’.”
