Amanda Nunes is undoubtedly the greatest women’s fighter in the history of UFC. The Brazilian managed to capture two belts simultaneously and defend both of them. The GWOAT recently was faced with one of the biggest upsets in the promotion’s history as Julianna Pena defeated Amanda to become the bantamweight champion.

Pena defeated Nunes in shocking fashion as she submitted the “Lioness” in the second round at UFC 269. Following her victory to become the champion, UFC is certain of making the rematch happen. In the build-up to the rematch, Julianna and Amanda are the coaches for the 30th season of The Ultimate Fighter. Recently, the bantamweight champion spoke to The Schmo in an interview about her rival.

Amanda, despite losing the bantamweight belt to Pena, is still left with the featherweight belt. Pena believes the 145-pound belt does not hold any credibility given that the UFC women’s featherweight division does not have any contenders.

“Let’s talk about this for a second. Holly and Germaine, both said they are not going back to featherweight at 145. They are going to stay true bantamweights at 135. Megan Anderson retired. Felicia Spencer retired. Can you name anyone in the division other than Amanda? She is the champ in the -45 division of who?” said Julianna talking to The Schmo.

The UFC official ranking site still does not have a ranking list for the women’s featherweight division. Before taking on Pena in a bantamweight fight, Nunes defended her featherweight title against Megan Anderson at UFC 259 in 2021.

“I mean she says that she is the champ of a division with one person. So, that’s nice,” said Pena poking fun at her rival. “I think I’ve said many times. I will fight whoever they want me to fight as long as they pay me,” said Pena on fighting for the featherweight belt on the line. Watch the full interview below:
