“I would love to do a boxing fight” – Junior dos Santos has big plans for the future

Junior Dos Santos
Junior dos Santos has big plans for the future. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was released by the UFC on the 3rd of March, earlier this year. Cigano, who is currently 37 years old, was going strong in the promotion until he faced Francis Ngannou in June 2019. He was knocked out by the current heavyweight champion which started a rough patch.
Junior Dos Santos then lost Curtis Blaydes, Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Ciryl Gane – all via. TKO. With four losses on the trot, and all via. knockout, Santos was in a rut. His last fight was against Gane at UFC 256 in December 2020. Three months after his loss to Gane, Dos Santos was released from the promotion.
In a recent interview with MMA Junkie while attending 2021 PFL Playoffs 3, dos Santos spoke about his ambitions of becoming a boxer. However, he also stated that he was in no mood to rush anything, and assured (fans) that he would move on, once a good deal is available.
“It’s hard to find heavyweights with enough courage to take a fight” – Junior dos Santos
Junior dos Santos was quoted as saying, “We were talking with bare-knuckle (BKFC), Bellator, PFL, some boxing conversations as well, recently. I would love to do a boxing fight, but it’s hard to find heavyweights with enough courage to take a fight. These guys are just talking, but let’s see what’s gonna happen.” [via. MMA Junkie]
He continued, “I’m not in a rush. I’m enjoying my time and as soon as we have a good deal, we’re gonna move on. My next step is, and I feel like it’s an important step, I just don’t want to go ahead and do it. I want to do it right.” [via. MMA Junkie]
Dos Santos has no prior experience in Boxing. However, his determination to become one is off the charts. JDS will be drawing inspiration from his famous wins over dangerous heavyweights like Cain Velasquez, Stipe Miocic, Shane Carwin and Frank Mir.
