Kai Kara-France discussed his UFC Columbus win and why he wants to fight Deiveson Figueiredo on the show The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

Kai Kara-France has gained a lot of momentum after his UFC Columbus win against Askar Askarov. Kai handed Askar his first ever professional loss by unanimous decision. An elated Kai called out the winner of Deiveson Figueiredo vs Brandon Moreno for the flyweight title. He clearly feels like he has done enough for the title fight but the UFC has already expressed interest in a fourth fight between Figueiredo and Moreno.

“I feel like I’ve separated myself from this division with having knockouts on my record…in this division that doesn’t happen”, says Kai Kara-France on The MMA Hour

Kai has 11 knockouts on his record which is very impressive at flyweight. He has beaten a wrestler at his own game and handed a loss to a striker who has never lost which leads him to believe that he has done enough to guarantee a title shot. As far as who he ends up fighting, Moreno or Figueiredo, it doesn’t matter.

Kai has already fought Moreno and dropped him twice in one round even though he lost, a fight against Moreno for the title would make a great storyline for the UFC while Figueiredo has a similar style to Kai, relentless pressure which would make for an exciting fight.

Kai Kara-France is at an all-time high after his win against undefeated flyweight Askar Askarov. This puts Kai in the perfect position to challenge for the title. When asked about a potential bout against Deiveson Figueiredo ahead of the quadrilogy fight with Brandon Moreno by Ariel Helwani, Kai responded that for the most part he’s been keeping his head down and focusing on the fight in front of him.

If the UFC had waited for a week before announcing the quadrilogy he might have been able to angle his win over Askarov for an immediate title fight. Now he has to wait and see what the UFC decides to do for the flyweight title bout even though he feels like he has earned it. Perhaps Figueiredo asking for the Kai fight over Moreno will tip the scales in Kai’s favour. For now it’s wait and watch.
