“I’m next in line for the title shot,” Kai Kara France demand title shot after UFC 269 win against Cody Garbrandt

The number 6th ranked UFC Flyweight fighter, Kai Kara France secured the biggest win of his UFC career against the former UFC Bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt at the main card of UFC 269. Kara France knocked out Garbrandt in the very first round of the fight and made a strong case for title contention.

This win came out as his second consecutive win and he also bagged performance of the night bonus in his last two fights. Garbrandt was the crowd favorite coming into this fight but Kai Kara France defied all the odds and spoiled the Flyweight debut of the former champion.

Talking about his exciting win in the UFC 269 post-fight press conference, Kai Kara France says, “I think I made a statement tonight, I took out a former champ. It’s a great story. Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo, this will be the third time they’re fighting. I fought Brandon three years ago in 2019. It was a close fight. He’s done well since then and improved a lot, but so have I.”

Cody Garbrandt was eyeing for an immediate title shot with a win against Kai Kara France at UFC 269 and taking over the entire Flyweight division. But Kara France knocked him out and spoiled the party for Garbrandt. He admitted that Garbrandt paid the price for underestimating him.

He continued, “He thought he was going to take over the flyweight division, so I shut that off tonight, I might’ve retired him. That’s just what we do at City Kickboxing: We fight the best in the world, and I know we have the best in the world. We proved that tonight. It was pretty special. I’m lucky to have all my teammates and I cant wait to see what the future holds.”
