“Fight more…Get a better manager”- Kevin Holland tells Ariel Helwani he has no issue with the UFC pay structure

Kevin Holland

Kevin Holland had one of the most memorable 2020s one could ever have. ‘The Trailblazer’ fought five times in the pandemic stricken year, and won all of his five fights, whilst also surging in the middleweight rankings. However, things didn’t go as he would have wanted in 2021, as he fell to a two-fight skid, losing to Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori. But, Holland is no slouch, he has vowed to be back – stronger and much improved.

In the latest MMA Hour episode with Ariel Helwani, Kevin Holland spoke about the ever-present UFC fighter pay issue. Of late the issue has been raging with more and more fighters complaining about the promotion. However, Holland claimed that he found no issue with UFC’s pay structure, before going on to share a piece of advice for those complaining – Fight more and get a better manager.

“My whole family is happy” – Kevin Holland

Kevin Holland was quoted as saying, “I make good money in the UFC…Sometimes people keep talking about they don’t get paid this much money in the UFC, they don’t get paid that much money in the UFC. Either A.) they need to fight more or B.) they need to get a better manager…I make good money. Very very happy…My whole family is happy. I don’t know what they are complaining about.” [h/t firstsportz.com]

Holland is one of the very few fighters to have found no complaints about UFC’s payouts, especially in recent times, where almost every fighter has one issue or the other with the pay.

‘The Trailblazer’ will be taking on Kyle Daukaus next. The fight is scheduled for the 2nd of October at UFC Fight Night 193, which is headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker. Given that there is more than a month left, this might be subjected to change.

The goofy Holland is coming off a loss against Marvin Vettori, where the latter absolutely pummeled him on the ground, cruising to a unanimous decision victory. Holland’s weak wrestling skills were exposed, but the fighter promised to improve his wrestling following his loss.

Daukaus, on the other hand, is also coming off a loss. He lost to Phil Hawes, earlier this year in May. The brother of Chris Daukaus, has won just one fight since joining the UFC. (He has lost two). He will be looking forward to getting back to winning ways, come the first week of October.
