Kevin Lee once surprised his fans and followers by sharing a video on his Instagram account of his new tattoo, which is on the back of his head. In the caption, the fighter hilariously asked EA Sports to change his character in the UFC game and add new details.

Lee, at that time, was recovering from a second torn ACL and wasn’t able to fight. So he decided to utilize his downtime to get more tattoos. A big tattoo that spans the back and neck of his body and resembles samurai armor.

After getting that tattoo Kevin Lee got a lot of attention and many fans were praising him for his choice and wanted to know the story behind it. Lee was open to answering all the questions and in an interview with MMA Fighting, ‘The Motown Phenom’ revealed what made him get into tattoos in the first place.

He said: “I took a little bit of inspiration from rappers. A lot of them will tattoo their face and stuff like this, and I’ve heard a few people say they do it because it’s almost like you can’t go back at that point.” It seems like Lee is a huge hip-hop fan and has always been connected to that art form and the artists who popularized it over the years.

Lee was very passionate when he was talking about the real reason behind his tattoo and according to the fighter he wanted to always remind himself why he chose to take fighting as a career.

He said: “I tattooed the helmet on me to remind me what I actually do. It will be something that follows me for the rest of my life. I spent the prime of my life as a warrior. So it just made sense to kind of remind myself everyday, it’s hard to not finish that extra run. It’s hard not to finish that extra round when you’ve got a fucking helmet tatted on you.”
