The former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has been working as a coach ever since his retirement, he is working really hard with his team and now he will be helping Shamil Zavurov prepare for his last fight.

Zavurov will fight on September 17th at Eagle Fighting Championship 40 against Nariman Abbaso. Khabib owns the Russian promotion, and he revealed via Twitter that he will be helping his teammate for his farewell fight.

He wrote, “We’ve all learned from @shamilzavurov for years. And now we are preparing him for the last fight in his career, which will be held on September 17 in Moscow.”

Khabib will be in his former and he wants him to win this fight, he said, “So, Mamedov, Shamil, Shamil, because we were raised together. He is the man I was growing up with. He’s been in the sport for more than 20 years now. Even more. Almost 30 years. He’s been in this sport for his entire life. And anyway, age matters. I really want him to retire on a victorious note. And I don’t want him to lose.”

Khabib recently named BJ Penn as one of the best lightweights on the planet besides him, now Penn has given his verdict on the discussion, he posted a message from his Instagram account in which he wrote.

He said, “Since Khabib has been saying he is the greatest lightweight of all time and I am number 2 best lightweight many people have been asking me why didn’t Khabib fight Usman for the 170 pound belt or compete for 170 belt like I did many times… in my humble opinion it is because he is not proficient and confident in jiujitsu.”
