“If I drink, I can smash all of you guys” – Khabib Nurmagomedov reveals what he told Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford
Sir Alex Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov
Khabib Nurmagomedov was at Old Trafford yesterday to witness Manchester United take on Everton. More importantly, he was there to spectate the footballer he admired the most – Cristiano Ronaldo. Although Ronaldo was benched by United’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, ‘El Don’ came on as a second-half substitute. Unfortunately for Manu, Ronaldo was not able to seal three points this time. The match ended in a draw.
Following the match, Khabib Nurmagomedov caught up with several legends across various walks of sports. Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, GOAT Sprinter Usain Bolt and former Manu left-back Patrice Evra were all at the stadium. More recently, Khabib revealed what he told Sir Ferguson when he caught up with him.
Fergie had offered Khabib a drink (wine); and Khabib being a Muslim, made it clear that he doesn’t drink, before going on to cheekily divulge that he would ‘smesh’ each and every guy there if he had one. All this he told at a later media interaction that night.
“He understood because he doesn’t think I should smash everybody” – Khabib Nurmagomedov
Khabib was quoted as saying, “There are two things: you can be straight and say ‘no, no, no – I am Muslim, I never drink.’ But I also told him, ‘this is not good because if I drink, I can smash all of you guys. It’s not a good idea.’Patrice Evra and Usain Bolt understand. Alex Ferguson asked me about wine. For him, it’s good – I don’t judge him. He [Ferguson] understands because he doesn’t think I should smash everybody, so he said, ‘OK, don’t drink.'” [via RT Sport]
Khabib is in the United Kingdom attending the Arnold Sports Festival. He also shared the stage with fellow UFC Legend and former welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre. Being a massive football fan, Khabib has been catching all the important matches possible during his time in the UK.
He also attended the recently concluded Manchester City vs Liverpool match at Anfield. The highly entertaining match ended in a 2-2 draw.
