Khamzat Chimaev thinks Israel Adesanya is easier target than Kamaru Usman
Khamzat Chimaev is not at all impressed by the middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. The fighter from Chechnya is trying to get a hold of two belts and believes capturing the middleweight belt would be easier of the two divisions, this is why…
Both, the middleweight and the welterweight division are ruled by Nigerian kings. The two champions are, Israel Adesanya and Kamaru Usman, respectively. The two fighters have been lapping around their weightclass and have no tough challenges as of now, it seems. Chimaev, who is eyeing to capture both the belts looks at Adesanya to prey on easier.
Adesanya is coming off a unanimous decision title defense victory against Robert Whittaker at UFC 271 and Khamzat was not at all impressed by his performance. In the recent episode of MMA Hour, Khamzat and Darren Till made an appearance and the Chechnyan fighter spoke about his two biggest challenges.
Khamzat Chimaev explains why Izzy is easier to beat
“Izzy, I think it will be easier for me to smash that guy[Kamaru Usmam],” said Chimaev talking to Ariel Helwani. “He has zero wrestling. The guy he fought last time, he’s not a wrestler….he took his back. If I take his back, I’ll squeeze his head off. I’ll take his head off. Easy money for me.”
Khamzat now has four fights in the UFC and has fought in both, welterweight and middleweight divisions. However, the change in weightclass hasn’t slowed down “Borz”. The fighter ran through all of his opponents and finished them all in a dominant manner. The fighter is currently 10-0 in his professional fighting career.
Chimaev is potentially just a win away from the welterweight title shot but he wouldn’t mind claiming the 185-lb pound belt solely because Izzy holds the title now. Do you think Khamzat is a good matchup for Israel Adesanya?
